Bobcat required an update to printed content for classroom materials for two main products from their construction machine lines; the Skid-Steer Loader and the Compact Excavator. To offer further engagement with technician training, e-learning solutions were also considered as an opportunity to enhance the existing content and update to current safety and operating messaging.
Ken Cook Co. attended instructor-led courses to gain additional course knowledge and then assessed the initial scope of work needed during roadmap sessions. A strategy was developed based on a fully detailed reconstructed outline that included collaboration of SMEs, technical writing staff, creative services department, and IT developer team. Ken Cook Co. also traveled to client locations to capture updated media assets including photography, video and drone footage for use within the course.
Ken Cook Co. developed multiple e-learning modules that contain interactive components, mixed media, audio narration, and other user-friendly interactive components. Throughout the modules, quizzes are used to assess actual tasks of safety and operation. Each module concludes with a test assessment. The training informs the user how to maintain a safe state of awareness when properly operating machinery and features general maintenance information and practices. Upon completion, a certification is produced.
