Ken Cook Co. is the proud winner of four awards from the Chicago Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) for printed and online works.
“We’re delighted to learn about these awards. They show we’re conscientious about the value of our work as technical communicators,” says William Duncan, Director of Writing and Editing at Ken Cook Co.
The STC sponsors international competitions that give professional technical communicators the chance to receive recognition for their work. STC chapters first hold preliminary competitions, and works in these competitions that earn excellence and distinguished awards advance to the international competition. The STC judges each entry carefully, giving consideration to the amount and purpose of technical content presented and the technical execution of that content (whether online or in print).
A merit award went to Ken Cook Co. for the Champion Power Equipment 8.5kW Home Generator Operator Manual. Awards of excellence went to the following works by Ken Cook Co.: GE Engine Specification Design, Ken Cook Co. Boat Owner’s Manuals Brochure, and the GE Power & Water Waukesha Gas Engines Technical Publications website.
The STC is a professional association devoted to the advancement of technical communication and recognizes the profession for effectively communicating information about technical processes or products for a targeted audience. Technical communicators, according to the STC, help businesses and customers by communicating safe, appropriate, and effective use of products, information and services. Ken Cook Co. actively partners with the STC to share knowledge and monitor technical communication trends.
